Video: Working Mom Must-Haves: Tieks, Athleta & Sonnet James
There are three items of clothing that have proven time and again to be indispensable for my working mama lifestyle. 1) “Play” dresses by Sonnet James, a clothing line created for “playful moms.” The line’s creator, Whitney, designed the dresses out of the same comfy, durable modal-spandex fabric as the maternity clothes she loved wearing while pregnant. All of her dresses are machine-washable (you just have to air-dry them), because Whitney, like me, post-mamahood, couldn’t deal with delicate fabrics or dry cleaning bills after her sons were born. I love these dresses! They’re stylish, comfortable and I can throw them in the washing machine when I get them dirty. 2) My Tieks foldable flats. These really are worth the $175 price tag. I debated about getting these for a few years. I tried a few less expensive versions of foldable flats and thought they were just OK. But the minute I put on a Tiek for the first time, I knew they were so much better made and worth their hype. These are so comfortable. I can wear them all day long. I wear them A LOT. And they’re only showing a little bit of wear. 3) The Athleta brand of athleisure-wear from the Gap family is such a great resource for me for comfortable, durable pieces. I especially love the Midtown pants. They look like normal, flat-front work pants but they feel like my most comfortable pair of sweats. When I wear them to work, I feel like I’m getting away with something. I feel like I’m wearing comfy gym clothes, but in reality I look pretty work-appropriate. I can’t live without these three brands/products and hope they inspire you to add more comfort and style into your working mama wardrobe!
